Milford is a town located west of Boston in Worcester County, Massachusetts. The population is roughly 30,000 per the 2020 census and was first settled in 1662 and incorporated in 1780. Milford had become a booming industrial and mining community in the 19th century due to its unique location which includes the nearby source of the Charles River, the Mill River and the Blackstone River watershed. The Mill River flows through the town and with many shallow bodies of water or fords that were located there it was said that this was how it received its name. Milford was renowned for its Milford pink granite which was unearthed in 1870 and was used for many local buildings including Worcester City Hall and the Boston Public Library.
Today Milford has become a fast growing town with the help of I-495 access and Route 109. Over the years many major retailers have been opening up and fueling the growth in the town.
