Leominster Real Estate
Located north of Wocester and west of Boston, Leominster is the second largest city in Worcester county with a population of nearly 45,000 residents. Leominster is most easily accessed by Route 2 nowadays but historically was popular for its setting along the Nashua River. The river was perhaps a main reason why the city had become noteworthy as it provided fertile soil for growing corn, beans, tobacco and squash. Later on in its history there was a shift from farming to manufacturing. With the introduction of the Fitchburg Railroad ease of transport was made available to and from Boston and points in between. At this point paper mills, comb manufacturers and piano makers had set up factories within the area. One popular highlight is that Leominster is home to where “Tupperware” was founded in 1938 which was soon to become a household name.
Today Leominster has been fueled by both Route 2 and I-190 which has made the city into more of a suburban and commercial setting. Twin City Plaza and the Mall at Whitney Field have been a factor in making Leominster a destination of choice for central Massachusetts shopping.
